What your newest band member needs to know to get started
There are a few things you need to share with your new rock star to make sure that the onboarding process goes smoothly. They need to know the why, what, how, and when of what to do in your business. Without sharing these important details your band will be playing out of tune.
Share your why
When you onboard your new band member you need to let them in on your why. Your new rock star needs to understand why they are doing the things you are asking of them.
Share your vision with your new rock star. Explain where you are going with your business, why you do what you do, and who you serve.
People love to buy into a vision and help achieve it. Share your vision so your rock star knows what goal they are working toward.
What will they be doing?
Your new rock star can’t perform if they don’t know how to help. Get your list of action items ready if you haven’t done so already. Brainstorm all the ways that you would like your new rock star to help you out. You may want to start them off slowly and give them only a few jobs at a time. Listen in to hear why starting off slowly is so important.
How will they do all they need to do?
The how is the part that may take you a bit of work. You’ll need to detail out your workflow and set up a system that they can use to do their best work. The systems you layout will provide the freedom and peace of mind that you are looking for so that you know it is all being done properly.
Document every step of what you want to be done. You can write it down, make a voice memo, or even make a video to explain. Delegate everything you can, but detail out each step that is in your head.
Make sure to exercise patience and grace as your rock star gets started. You want to provide guidance so that they aren’t too afraid to ask you questions when they don’t understand what to do.
