Why I wrote my book
The pandemic caused us all to slow down and I chose to spend time reflecting on my life. I started thinking about the clients that I enjoyed working with the most over the past 26 years of financial planning, and I realized that I loved helping successful solopreneurs master their finances so that they could live the life they want.
I help my solopreneur clients relax enough to do the things they love to do while I assist them with their financial lives. With my guidance, they know that they’ll be able to retire and that I’ll help them reduce their tax bills. I even help my clients to improve their businesses and create a better life for themselves.
With all the extra time the pandemic provided, I realized that I could write a book to help more solopreneurs master their finances to live the life they want. Once I had an outline for the book, I realized I needed more direction, so I hired a company called Scribe to help me with the process. The basics of The Solopreneur’s Money Manifesto
My book is broken up into 3 parts: setting yourself up for success, planning for purpose, and putting it all into place.
Setting yourself up for success starts with your vision for your life and your business. I use the life wheel as a tool to help you understand where you are in relation to your life goals. This tool and the included assessment will help you get a better understanding of what kind of life you want to live.
Next, I discuss mindset. Mindset is so important for success, and it is especially important for solopreneurs. If you can take control of your thoughts and change the way you think then you’ll be able to change the way you act. Once you have your mindset in place you’ll be able to gain more control of your life and put effective habits in place that align with your life vision.
Now that you understand where you want to go you can start to develop a financial plan. My financial planning process starts with where you are at now so that you can understand how to get where you want to be.
In the putting it all in place section I outline the process of how I worked with a client as a case study. This is where the book comes to life. The case study illustrates the client experience and you can visualize your own situation as you think through your financial plan.
