Grow yourself to grow your company
When you transition from working for someone to being your own boss, you may experience many unforeseen challenges. Learning what steps to take to get where you want to be will ease the process, but how do you figure out where to start? When your livelihood relies on your business entirely, you can’t afford to learn as you go. You have to try to stay ahead of the curve to avoid potentially expensive mistakes.
To do this, study trends in your market and look back historically at what your industry has done. About every 10-years we experience a drastic shift across all markets. Planning for potential losses can ease you through any challenges you may face. Gene quotes The Law of Attraction, stating, “What you think about the most, you tend to attract into your life.” Apply this to your business by paying attention to the small details and figuring out what you don’t know. Don’t wait until you need something to try and figure out how to do it!
Finding financial freedom and investing in yourself
Any time you work FOR someone you will forever be focused on their goals and helping achieve them. When you decide to pursue YOUR vision, you have the financial freedom to proceed how you want.
Gene recommends all professional Solopreneurs keep these two things in mind:
- The science of achievement
Learning the science of building businesses and relationships will help you achieve your goals. YOU can create the outcome that YOU want!
- The art of fulfillment
What does a fulfilled life look like to you? Perhaps it’s happiness, reduced stress, and being able to surround yourself with uplifting people. When you focus your energy on those details you receive them!
But what do you do when a financial crisis hits? When you’re a Solopreneur, it’s on YOU to navigate the peaks and valleys of your business. Plan for those times by making changes today that can have a lasting impact: save money, cancel unused memberships, and trim unnecessary spending to help you adjust when needed. As we’ve seen over time, there will always be another shift in the market. By making adjustments now it will be easier to pull through with your business intact.
How a success mindset can move you from dabbling to committing
Most people dabble in a variety of different things regularly without making the commitment to complete the task. What would happen if you made the decision today to finish something that you’ve been wanting to for a while? People radically overestimate what they can do in 30 days, but then underestimate what they can do in a year, or even two years! To reach your goals take the time to plan out the steps you need to take to get there and hire help when needed.
Another area that people tend to undervalue is self-education. The skills you can learn by continually pushing yourself forward is what will separate you from your competition. Commit a little time regularly to build on the skills you need or want and don’t settle for free or novice tutorials. Invest in yourself to learn the skills the RIGHT way!
